The first version of Big Ben cast for the tower arrived in London in 1856, but it cracked before it could ever be put in place. A second, lighter bell was hoisted up to the belfry in October 1858
There is a fee for entering London’s famous Big Ben, with the cost of a non-commercial vehicle of 15 people or less $30, and the cost of each person in a vehicle of 16 people or more $15. Visitors to Big Ben will not be charged more than the commercial rate, which is reasonable. Children under the age of 15 are free to visit.
